The phoenix is a flying, magic focused species. They have a unique passive that allows them to turn into an egg upon death, which, if not destroyed, will allow the phoenix to respawn.

Strategies

Combat

The Phoenix combination of the "Explosion" skill and the innate ability to turn into an egg upon dying, makes it able to effectively nuke entire teams. Keep in mind, however, that the "Explosion" skill can damage your own units as well. Use it with caution.

The Phoenix will not receive neither morale losses nor injuries when turning into an egg. Consider taking advantage of this when using the arena.

An interesting combo is using the Phoenix with the "Martyr" skill, which can be gained by when breeding an Angel or a Nephilim. Using this combo, the Phoenix effectively turns into a support unit.

Keep in mind, that the egg form can be dispelled with the "Cleanse" skill. This revives the Phoenix instantly.

Playing against

The opposing Phoenix unit can and will use the "Explosion" skill. Consider baiting the Phoenix into killing its own units, by entangling one of your more sturdy units between your enemies. You can also try to nuke it down. Just make sure you can defeat it in one turn.

Disabling the Phoenix with seduction isn't a particularly good strategy, because of the "Agile" trait, which comes with all Harpy units except Dragon Girl.

Keep in mind, that your opposition can revive the Phoenix from egg form with the "Cleanse" skill.

Notes

When a Phoenix dies and turns into an egg, it will take 5 turns to respawn and only have 18 health. This means that, if left unprotected, the Phoenix will still die.

Trivia

  • They carry an egg, magically bound to their life, from witch they hatch again when they die. They need protection while hatching. After hatching they can immediately produce a new egg.
  • Their wings produce a high amount of heat in addition to their body heat, which makes sex usually very sweaty and exhausting for their partner.
